Why choose Theta Chi? — Theta Chi Fraternity, Alpha Rho Chapter

Why choose Theta Chi?

So many reasons.

Hopefully you have taken a few minutes to look through the information in the Life as a Theta Chi section of the site. There are some great descriptions of the role Brotherhood, Academics, Social & Philanthropy play in our lives. While most fraternities engage in all of these activities to one degree or another, we pride ourselves on striking a strong balance - providing each member with a very well-rounded experience.

Performance.

We have one of the best retention rates in the UW Greek System - highlighting the fact that members choose to be part of our brotherhood & live-in for all 4 years of their college experience. In a very competitive academic environment, we perform very well. We consistently beat the averages published by UW & have a commendable all-house GPA given our large number of members. Also, many of our members are recognized on the quarterly Dean's List published by UW.

Consistent social activities with top sororities & fraternities on campus keep things lively for our members. We have maintained very positive relationships with the other houses on campus, and are a very well respected organization within the Greek System.

Our efforts relative to philanthropy over the past few years have yielded some incredible results. A brother in our fraternity fought a long & hard battle with brain cancer over the past 3+ years. We organized a fundraising effort that spanned the course of 12+ months & raised a total of $105,000+ to help finance experimental treatments. While Kyle is no longer with us physically - his spirit lives on - as do our efforts to continue to give back & support those in need of "A Helping Hand".

Location, location...

The physical location & structure of our house is one of the best in the Greek System. Located in the middle of "Greek Row" (4535 17th Ave NE) we have a beautiful brick French Norman style main house that was built in the 1920's, along with a large annex (connected via a skybridge) that has 19 additional large rooms with adjoining bathrooms. A recently remodeled kitchen, dining room, library, living room w/ pool table & sports room in our basement make for a very comfortable living environment.

Always having fun.

There is always something to do when you live at Theta Chi. We participate in intramural sports, attend all of the varsity athletic events (e.g. football, basketball, baseball), organize exchanges, host dances, go on ski trips, have brotherhood's at cabin around the Sound, run philanthropies, network with Alumni, go on road trips, travel for spring break, waterski, houseboat, head to each others houses - plus a million other things. There is never a dull moment - always an opportunity to do something when you have spare time & are in the mood for something fun!
