Why Join Theta Chi?
Here at the Alpha Rho chapter of Theta Chi, we pride ourselves in being better fraternity men and brothers through abiding by our core covenants of leadership, integrity, service, and presence. We develop valuable bonds of friendship and build useful networks that guide us through college and beyond.
Brotherhood is one of the most important aspects of Theta Chi, building relationships that last a lifetime, not ones that end after your time in college. The diversity within the men of our fraternity is what we thrive off of to make these bonds even stronger, and is one of the greatest benefits of joining a fraternity.
Between academics, sports, and other interests in the community our men undertake, everyone appreciates the wide variety of events on our social calendar, both inside and outside the house. At Theta Chi, we know an important part of the college experience happens outside of the classroom. Between exchanges with sorority women and themed date functions, we offer a great way to network within the Greek community. Other social events include:
- A weekend spent in downtown Vancouver, B.C. for our annual Winter Formal.
- Living in during the Summer, in which the house is full of both guys and girls, who plan an exciting summer of anything from Lake Chelan excursions to music festival trips.
The men of Theta Chi stand to extend a Helping Hand to all who seek it. With this in mind, we have shown our dedication to service by taking an active role in Philanthropy events around the UW Greek community, by organizing our own events, and by extending a Helping Hand in the greater Seattle community. One way we maintain our strong relationships with sororities is through their philanthropic events, ranging from soccer or volleyball tournaments to pagaent-like competitions. In the most recent philanthropy, Alpha Gamma Delta's Mr. Greek, we were among the top two competitors.
We proudly uphold the tradition of respecting and maintaining the condition of our chapter house. After the house was completely remodeled during the Summer of 2013, the brothers of Theta Chi own the title of having the "nicest and cleanest fraternity in the Greek community," and intend to keep it that way. Additional upgrades to the house have also been made since the remodel, including the installation of a state-of-the-art home theater with surround sound.
Our activity in IM athletics is another way in which we are able to strengthen our relationships with each other and within the Greek and campus communities. IMA sports that we participate in include basketball, volleyball, soccer, and ultimate frisbee, among others.
"Alma Mater first, and Theta Chi for Alma Mater."
Our Fraternity Maxim is used to emphasize our commitment to the missions and institutions where Theta Chi is present, and to remain loyal students and alumni for life. As a fraternity based on balance, we take pride in our academics, holding ourselves and each other accountable while we strive to be the best. We find that success in your first quarter of college has a significant impact on the success of your entire college career, which is why we require a minimum GPA of 3.0 to be initiated into Theta Chi.
Leadership among our men comes in many forms, both on campus and in the Seattle community. Brothers' involvement includes, but is not limited to: leadership positions in the Interfraternity Council, members of teams ranging from UW's Formula SAE team to different Husky athletics, UW Leaders, and other organizations in the community. One of the easiest ways to learn these valuable leadership skills is to take up an officer position in the fraternity. All members are encouraged to run for positions that improve all different aspects of Theta Chi.
